Cottagers Garden Produce Show & Sale 2024

The Newlands, Lamancha, & Kirkurd Cottagers Garden Produce Show & Sale has been a regular fixture of the Newlands community for many years, raising a vast amount of money to assist some of our most vulnerable residents and other worthy causes.
Last year we were keen to expand the concept from just being a purely conventional garden produce show with conventional judging to something a bit more inclusive. While retaining the central horticultural core, we expanded things to become more of a Family Day (albeit with a horticultural flavour). We added a Bouncy castle and child’s soft play area. Calum Clunie (from Beechgrove) attended to conduct Q&A sessions and present prizes.
In addition, we had several covered stalls on the Sports Field. We offered vendors a space at no cost to either sell goods or exhibit/promote their businesses or activities. The objective was to increase the incidental footfall and maybe introduce some attendees to the wonders of horticulture and gardening. This year we are introducing several demonstration/workshop stalls where attendees can few and find out how some traditional crafts /activities are created or delivered. There will also be a Treasure Hunt for children where the kids will investigate various puzzle stations to complete several questions and find the “treasure”.
