Whitmuir Community Farm are hosting summer workshops at Venues across the Borders for Summer 2016 – a Grow With Your Kids Workshop will be hosted at Newlands Activity Centre on 27th July.

Parents are welcome and any child under 5 must be accompanied. Any parents/guardians not staying for the sessions must fill in consent forms before leaving their children.
20th July – Grow with Your Kids: Whitmuir Community Farm (EH46 7BB)
“Become a soil scientist” to see which soil is best for growing plants- budding scientists needed. Then we’ll get creative and make some signs for our 2000m2 field.
27th July – Grow with Your Kids: Newlands Activity Centre (EH46 7BZ)
“Meal in a pot”: plant seedlings to make your own pizza. We’ll be watering, weeding and looking after the plants in the polytunnels, and maybe harvesting some vegetables too. Once everything is in order we’ll plants some seeds in pots for you to grow at home.
3rd August – West Linton Primary School (EH46 7EX)
“Mini beast bug hunt” Primary 1 children planted up some vegetable beds at the end of term, so we’ll be checking up on those. After that we’ll see what mini-beasts are hiding around the school grounds with a bug hunt.
10th August – Whitmuir Community Farm (EH46 7BB)
“Pick Your Own and meet the animals” We’ll be checking up on our experiments from the first week. There will be plenty to harvest too, so you can take home a bag of your favourite veggies. Please let us know if you need any ideas for recipes.
