Newlands Centre – Development Manager

Purpose of the post

The centre manager will work closely with, and report to, the NCDT boards of directors. They will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the Newlands centre, monitoring financial performance to ensure the centre remains within, and ensuring alignment with the aims and objectives outlined in the business plan.

Term – initial 12 – month probation contract

Salary – £17,000 per annum

Hours – 21 hours per week on a flexible basis as the roll requires some evening and weekend work

Location – Newlands Centre, Romanno Bridge, West Linton, EH46 7BZ

Pension – employers’ contributions of 3%

Holidays – 17 days including Christmas

Key responsibilities:

– provide leadership and management to all centre staff.

– liaise regularly with the NCDT board of directors, primarily through weekly management meetings.

-act as the designated child protection officer for the centre.

-Identify and pursue appropriate funding opportunitys, including grants, to support the centre and community initiates.

-Develop and implement strategies to increase income generation though centre activities and services.

-maintain accurate and up to date records related to health and safety and other key compliance areas.

-plan, coordinate, and deliver major events, such as the annual family new year party.

-organise and run Pentland activity camps (PAC), which operates for five weeks during the easter and summer school holidays.

-lead on all marketing and promotional activities for the centre

– maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, particularly the local primary school.

Required skills:

– full driving license

– Good communication skills

– Disclosure Scotland

Skills that would be an advantage or be willing to gain:

– mini bus driving licence,

– a qualification related to looking after children
