With the arrival of COVID-19 we are working to bring volunteers together with the most vulnerable in our Community who will require additional support during any periods of enforced isolation and during this very worrying time for all.
The Scottish Government have set up Community Assistance Hubs (CAHs) to support all requirements for ‘shielding’ and are linked into the national framework. Scottish Borders Council have a Community Assistance Hub in Peebles.
If you are requiring assistance with shopping, isolation, transport, finances, dog walking, your iPad, Laptop, Mobile phone or any other matters please contact the local Community Assistance Hub using the following contact details.
The Community Assistance Hub will then direct your enquiry to the relevant support group – including the Newlands Resilient Community Hub if you live in or around Lamancha, Newlands and Kirkurd.
Phone – 0300 100 1800
Newlands Community Development Trust and Newlands Activity Centre is your Resilient Community Hub and will assist SBC and Lamancha, Newlands & Kirkurd Community Council at a local level.
Newlands Resilient Community Hub will organise and support our local Volunteer Groups and provide logistical, technical and financial assistance to ensure the smooth and safe delivery of required services.
Newlands Volunteers are utilising an online ‘SignUp’ service to allow for a smooth and fast response to all requests for support fed to the ‘Resilient Community Hub’ from the SBC ‘Community Assistance Hub’.
If you are able to offer your services as a volunteer please follow the below link to our SignUp.
